I think footballers are quite a bit different from most high earning workers
mostly because of their fixed length contract situation. For example, a player whose contract is up in June would be crazy to accept a pay cut now, because he could end up without work for a year or so.
Also, a young player on a pretty small contract, who is probably not good enough for the Prem, but may end up eeking out a lower league career, shouldn't really be pressured into taking the same pay cut as a star player on 200k per week.
