Being relegated under such circumstances would be open to compensation

as a club could argue they may have stayed up.

An increase in the number of matches next season could help clubs (TV companies etc.) compensate for loss of income towards the end of this season.

As I understand it the main promotion/relegation issue is who would be promoted from League One to the Championship as a few clubs would be on the same average points total.
