Yes, I've read that -
and that social distancing is easier to introduce in countries with less tactile greetings eg bowing. Seems reasonably obvious really. Might also be ethnic differences in effect of the virus, and obviously differences in living arrangements - eg places where the elderly tend to live with families, such as Italy. All possible contributors.
