I wonder what informal agreements we have in place

(or even formal release clauses)

Given there were so many new long term contracts handed out, you would think the more savvy/ambitious players/agents would have put some thought into the ramifications of committing to a promoted club for 3-4 years (vs being free to leave much sooner) given that immediate relegation was a real prospect even in our optimistic days. True, some will just have seen £££ signs but the savvy ones would have discussed it all with the club.

As long as we stick to what both parties believe the 'deal' was (whether that's accepting bids of particular values or from particular clubs, or players giving us until January if we go down, to see if we're likely to be coming straight back up or not, or whatever) then you'd have to be a t**t of a player to be disgruntled at having to accept staying.

I still don't think we'll lose all that many unless we suddenly go on a storming 'almost good enough' run where out starlets absolutely excel. Could do with the likes of Cantwell etc having a quiet end to the season.
