The long standing ref's principal... no surprises!
I was reminded earlier by Mick Dennis on Twitter of one of the key thrusts of most pre match briefings by referee to assistants... No surprises! If you're giving something that is a surprise to all the players and everyone else, it pro ably isn't the right decision.
