So. Is Norwich in the North or the South?
Well, here's an alternative metric from the FT - the number of Greggs per person, and the number of Pret a Mangers per person (apparently originally comes from something called The Tab, a stoodent news site).

From a quick look at the map, I think Norwich has 8 Greggs, and 2 Prets? (Or 9 Greggs if you count the one out in Costessey as being in Norwich.)
So our Pret ratio is approx 1 per 100,000 people - in line with Newcastle, Nottingham, Leeds and Birmingham (ie lower than Cambridge, Oxford or London).
And our Greggs ratio is 4-5 per 100,000 people - as per Leeds and Brum again. Well above London, Oxford or Cambridge - but way below places like Glasgow and Newcastle.
Therefore we are as Northern, or Southern, as Birmingham and Leeds. Per Greggs and Prets.
You're welcome.
