If I walk at night through a notoriously dangerous place speaking on my expensive mobile which is then stolen, the crime itself is no less serious than if it occurred somewhere much more obviously safe - but nonetheless it might be said that I had been very foolish and in that sense bore some "responsibility" for my own fate. On that type of issue, I think people have various shades of opinion. Eg in the case I describe, if my son did that, I'd tell him he was bloody idiot, and what did he expect.
