The Wettening. Brighton (a).

Fuck me, my arse was wet.
And that was just before the game.

We left early to get there early and watch the rugby on the way. That went well. By the time we got to the M25 the weather had properly set the tone. Malkybarkid’s car engaged pedalo setting and we arrived at someone’s front garden to park. It was just off the seafront so we went down to have a look. I’ve never been so close to being blown off in public. Lumps of sea were flying one block back from the sea. It was horrific.

So we went to the Evening Star, near the station. Excellent pub, fine selection of beers and we sampled quite a few of them. By this time I was as wet as I could possibly get and my face was covered in salty spume. Not a good omen.

Then we went to the game.

After that was over we went back to the Evening Star as they still had some beer left. Garrrrrrry was there. Shockingly, he was drier than me. Having availed ourselves of the photo opportunities offered outside Taboo, Brighton’s “premier adult toy shop”, we wandered off to eat Turkish meats and locate more drinking emporia. We were successful in this endeavour, so much so that I don’t remember much of what was discussed. I do know that the pub was the Cricketer’s and they had adequate gin, as did the hotel bar.

I feel fine now.

Anyway, the football. Where have all our shots gone? I’m not convinced it’s all down to injuries now, or formations, or team selection, or “philosophy”, or the opposition being better. We’re just not playing as well as last season. It’s disappointing and very frustrating but I’m sure it’s that simple. Confidence is fickle and affects the whole team. They’ve got to keep on going and get through it, or not. Whatever the case, it’s the only option they have. Give they lads a hand.
