If I had to guess (and its only a guess) he must have relented on customs check in the

irish sea possibly in return for the EU agreeing some way for NI to extricate itself from the backstop (but probably not the way proposed in his recent offer).

Its interesting how whenever the leaders of these counties actually sit in a room together for any length of time they seem to make some progress as opposed to the phoney PR war that goes on on social media and in the media.

What will be really interesting is if he has the DUP on board or will suddenly spring details of the deal and hope he can pick up enough votes from labour leavers to negate the DUP going ape sh*t. You'd have to assume its the former based on what he's said.
