What is so dreadful and depressing about today's news

is that they're basically carrying on where they left off yesterday. They should heed carefully the words of Jo Cox's husband who -

warned against "bad behaviour" on both sides of the house.

He said there was a "willingness to jump out and decry the other side" when they use language like surrender, however he said it was also inflammatory by the opposition to accuse the Government of "being a coup and a dictatorship".

"It's not just bad behaviour by one side of the debate, this is something which has infected our politics," he said.

Exactly right - up and up the stakes go, more and more hysterical and frenzied on both sides. Utterly incapable of reasoned debate. I wonder if it's permissible to prorogue on grounds that the effect of days like yesterday on the nation is deeply pernicious.
