I don;t equate spending money with ambition. People don;t read what I post properly

You just take you own pre-conceived interpretation of it. I don't think we should be spending £120m this summer because we can't. Not doing that doesn't mean we have no ambition but by the same token I'm not going to start laughing at or mocking Villa for doing it because their owners mean they can afford to do it and whether you like it or not it probably does give them a better chance of staying up. I do though think that if the club feels it needs a CDM and we have to spend £10-£15m to get the right player in that position then we should not leave that gap purely on the basis of financial prudence because we have players worth probably well over a hundred million now to sell if we went down (leaving aside the fact that said player may retain his value anyway) so I think you have to be prepared to spend in a targeted manner on the right key players and I don't think that doing so is that huge a risk.

I certainly think that if you have genuine ambition then you need to spend "some" money but what I really equate with ambition is doing everything you can (within the constraints we have to work with obviously) to make the squad as strong as we possibly can and not neglect any key areas for improvement.
