That is what elections and manifestos are all about. Government is not easy but it can definitely help to improve people's lives.

They certainly make some lives better. The wealthy have done very well over the last decade (and longer).

Many of the policies that have impacted on your life are the deliberate act of governments pursuing neoliberal ideals. I find it interesting that you don't want to accept this and support someone who will happily continue the current broken system.
