Because their output is nowhere near as far reaching or anywhere near the same quality as the BBC.
I don't listen to any commercial radio so I'm more than happy to pay for a licence. If you don't want to then don't. Nobody HAS to watch TV or listen to radio. Anyway, there's this thing called the internet you could utilise...
