Because they were paying a premium for a service, namely

that they are guaranteed a ticket for every game and they don't have to do anything to buy tickets.

Last year an AST holder paid £30 more than other fans for that service.

This year they are paying £10 less and are guaranteed tickets unlike anyone else.

I'm not that bothered about it to be honest but I don't think its very fair. But of a fudge by the club to try and quieten some of their more vocal critics but actually just making the system less fair if you ask me.
