I know what he meant. I don;t like Sadiq Khan. He does absolutely nothing that
is not related to promoting his own image or his own PR. He has achieved sod all since he's been mayor of London.
All he ever done is turn up at parties, PR photo opps or get involved in things that he thinks will help raise his own profile, presumably with a view to one day returning to Parliament once Corbyn is out the way and having a crack at being the future leader of the labour party.
In my opinion/based on what I can see, he has bloated the City Hall staff again with huge increases in spending on PR related tuff. Every, and I mean every, decision taken there is taken primarily from a PR perspective with input from his PR advisers. He has fiddled the housing stats and got caught out, crime is getting out of control and he'd done nothing about it whilst wasting loads of money on his own PR machine or reviews into the previous regime's actions or projects he can scrap just to make them look bad and as soon as there is an opportunity for him to increase his profile by having a spat with Trump suddenly there he is, poking the bear and getting his face on TV. Bit like when he brought that ridiculous legal challenge to the oroposed release of that Worbuoys character when it was being challenged anyway and had absolutely nothing to do with him. Just a PR opp that raised his profile.
I appreciate he is far from alone in having these tendencies in modern politics. which is one of the big problems with it. Boris Johnson wasn't dissimilar and really achieved very little during his time as Mayor. These guys have some significant powers and can make a real difference but they don't because that's not really why they are in that job. All style over substance. We would be much better off electing a lower profile nobody as Mayor of London who is actually passionate about improving the City rather than boosting their own profile.
