I'm not on ESA and I don't know first hand
but my eldest son lives in sheltered accommodation and some of the other people there also have lifelong issues; one of the things the staff at the place he's at frequently have to do is fend off people from the DWP who are trying to take people off benefits they're perfectly entitled to.
My understanding is that they will usually re-assess your ability to work every 1, 2 or 3 years to make sure you're still not fit to work. Hopefully having had the decision, assuming your conditions haven't changed you should have a strong case for the decision not changing either.
Good luck with it and if you're worried maybe go and see a Citizens Advice Bureau? They're really good with this kind of thing.
