I had actually forgotten Fred played for us. They bought in so many duff players that you can forget one £50million under achiever in amongst all the other dreck. Hundreds of millions spaffed through Mino Raiola’s bank account and Ashley Young’s still worth a place in the first 11. Next year we should give the whole transfer budget to Bez and Shaun Ryder and ask them to judge transfer value based on the question “Would we get more entertainment from watching this player at old Trafford or by spending the money on gear which can be equally distributed amongst season ticket holders?” So a dreary afternoon in Watford watching a 50 year old Ashley Young hobbling up the right wing could be enlivened by the fact that your cheeseburger’s talking to you and Tanith Chong appears to be riding a unicorn. Just a thought
