Sums up the whole Brexit fiasco if you ask me. I think many are just scared that if
we are given a year's space then there is a danger that without the cliff-edge urgency they'll have to actually start looking at facts and planning.
Hard deadlines create a level of urgency which is best exploited by extremes on either "side" of any debate. The Brexit dilemma really should be handled by those closer to the middle of the road and therefore far more rational and capable of compromise and discussion, and not by the shouty populists. I think they are scared that that might actually happen which would surely inevitably lead either to a people's vote or revoking Article 50 with an agreement to hold new referendums every 5 years or so (or something along those lines).
I might even be able to frame my "temporary Dutch residence permit for in the event of No Deal" which I received last week, having never needed to use it. That would be lovely, ta.
