I don't understand this bit:

Why say no to that? I mean, it's just saying OK, you haven't got your s**t together. Here's a year. If and when you've got your s**t together come back to us and we'll sort out a date.
Gives everybody far more freedom and time. Am assuming that if they then want to leave earlier they need to give a certain period of notice.
I think the only downside of that for the anybody in the UK is that the EU elections will have to take place which should be a proper laugh. Not really seeing any risk of those elections being a further disaster because the majority of EMPs tend to be disasters anyway.
I think the EU is offering up a lot there, because over here our biggest headache is the uncertainty and they are offering to extend that uncertainty to a year.
