I've done some Alpine Peaks and an attempt on Mont Blanc (weather curtailed it).
Preparation for the physical challenge is important and with EBC it's several days of trekking at altitude so good level of fitness will underpin the challenge.
You can't tell how altitude will impact you and fitness is no guide. Aclimitisation is the only route to not suffering.
