Not learning something positive from one's mistakes, IMO, is a massive massive personal failing.

I've come to assume that the reason that Brains wilfully, seemingly, refuses to learn from mistakes, is that he doesn't consider that he's made any mistakes.

If true, and I don't believe that it's an entirely unfair assumption, I could easily see him considering the holt & safri/edworthy & helveg thing last season as not being a case of "Whoops, I made a mistake by not playing the better players earlier", but "Finaly the players decide to play right at the very last moment possible". Ignoring. apparently, the fact that safri and helveg could do a great deal while sat in the stands watching holt back off into the central defence.
