I have no issue with a dedicated standing area...
...as long as persistent standing is properly clamped down on everywhere else. Biggest miff of away games, including the Wembley Final, was my kids having to precariously stand on their seats most of the game to be able to see.
At home games it isn't normally a problem but you can always tell in the bigger games where casuals are unable to get into Barclays End/Snakepit and decide to stand elsewhere - it causes friction.
