Cos there are different levels

Its clever - you play teams at the same level as you (and get promoted / relegated between levels). So games are more competitive than the old friendlies, in general.

You can only win the tournament (via the semis) if you were in the top level (as we were).

The carrot for all other levels is automatic places in the euro qualifying playoffs.

There you go.
