But the football establishment gives a pretty good impression of not wanting to involve itself with the extremities of the country. Us, the south west, Wales... if the team’s not in London, the Midlands or within 50 or so miles of Manchester they don’t really want to know, let alone go there.

Actually you could probably scrap the word “football” from that paragraph, I suppose.
