It’s partly the write off of the value of transfer fees paid
that is the write off of what what would otherwise have been recognised as an asset in respect of Naismith.
And partly the recognition of amounts we are obliged to pay to players for which we will get no value, either as a sale or via consumption (I.e being in the squad). Which I guess is Martin and Naismith, and maybe others?
So say the Naismith write off is £2.5m, the rest is Martin and Naismith wages plus whoever else is viewed in that way.
As you say, the cost of those payments has been recognised as an expense in 17/18 such that it won’t be an expense in 18/19.
