Jim was still moaning.

(Creo?) still wanted Delia and the board gone.

We weren't quite as gloomy as TWTD maybe, but then we weren't bottom so maybe it was easier to kid ourselves. I'm with OM and APB, I do feel for the supporters. Also, it's much more fun to beat them when they think they're as good as us and ought to win.
