Married couples on the same board is hardly unusual in itself is it?

I mean, I've only worked for a handful of firms, and I've known it in two different exec boards. I dunno, maybe I've fluked a rare situation twice, but it doesn't feel like it. It was certainly unremarkable at the time. Literally, in that it wasn't remarked on.

What is different though, is the size of the boards. Those were five people or more, not just three. That does feel not quite right.
