£45 on gas and electric each month and a wood burner. Haven't need to buy any wood for 25 years - it's all been donated as people replace windows and doors and trees from their back gardens. Even more the case as charges become common at recycling centres. And no need for a chain saw - just a good bow saw with a new blade from Thorns every year!
