Right - you need software which will "rip" (that's the term) the CD onto your computer.

There's loads that will do the job. I use ExactAudioCopy with the LAME encoder for mp3, but that's probably not a beginners solution.

Winamp will do it I believe, as will Nero, Musicmatch and Windows Media Player (although I doubt that will create mp3 formatted files, it;s more likely to be .wma files (which if your mp3 players supports them will be fine)). THere will be many many more.

Additionally I believe that software that ships with mp3 players will also do the job, although I'd imagine that they take notice of copy-protection rules. iTunes might do it if you've got an iPod, and I know the "Connect" software with the Sony NWA range does it - but that software is notoriously s**t and buggy.

Start your ripping software up, put your CD in the computer and start the ripping process. I can't really help on the specifics of that without knowing what software you're using.

Once you've got music files on your cimputer you can add them to your mp3 player - again, without knowing what mp3 player you've got I can't help with the specifics.

Tell me what software you're using and what mp3 player you've got and we might get somewhere ...
