I think your point 3 is bang on the money

I'd also suspect that in the absence of more cover, if injuries occur in game, we might go back 4 with a more packed df midfield (godfrey/Thompson) than have raggett as first change simply to stick with the system.

Godfrey offers both options and after impressing in shrews and training seems the better option at the moment as he can be brought in tactically, not simply as cover.

Raggett needs more experience of first team football. Makes more sense for him to cut his teeth elsewhere than to sit on the bench waiting for injuries.

Not seen much of raggett but the times I've seen Godfrey he looks superb. Time for him to stake a claim.

I'd guess we might have a recall option if one of our CBs gets a longterm injury too...
