I can remember three performances, two which you've
already said. Paul Gascoigne, Thierry Henri and Gareth Bale but the first two stand out.
Gascoigne as I remember was an evening game with him just returning from injury and he was virtually untouchable. I think (but I'm getting old and can't be certain) that it was an evening game and Spurs were leading 1-0 when he was taken off due to tiredness from his first game but we came back to win 2-1.
Against Henri we lost 4-1 and I think he scored with both feet and a header. It was the first time I'd seen him play live and I had no idea how physically big he was combined with strength and power. Our defenders couldn't contend with him all game.
Bale was impressive but had less influence on the game but still scored an incredible goal.
Overall choice Gascoigne.
