They could easily have lost any of those games. For example Bayern played them off the park in both legs while managing to miss a hatful of sitters and Liverpool were on top in the final until Salah got injured. None of those things, like most of what happens on a football field, were down to the manager. Tactics obviously play some part but the overwhelmingly dominant factor is player execution, and if you have world class players there's a better chance that on the day they'll execute properly and make you look good.
