Depends if you call alcoholism or maybe even smoking an illness.
I would say an addiction if I had to put a name to it. They are all detrimental to the body but ultimately you have to actually carry out the process. That's not to lessen the effect these addictions have on peoples lives nowadays but I for one can only see things getting worse in the future as we don't have the resources, or rather the money for them and things like social media and the crrap on telly where everyone appears to have a wonderful life don't help either.
