He isn't stupid and I can understand why he's gone.

In a world where managers are judged by their last appointment, he's realised with Derby's aging squad and the fact they have to reduce the wage bill next season, it's unlikely they'll have such a good season next time out. He'd probably be gone by Christmas if he stayed.

To keep his stock high he's gone to Stoke who are more likely to be pushing for promotion and he's more likely to get a decent job after Stoke if he's sacked there. I haven't even mentioned remuneration yet! He's looking after No.1 at the end of the day.
