things like that can and do happen in football fairly regularly. Some new signing acts as a massive catalyst or we fluke a run of results and confidence grows to the point where everyone is playing above themselves.

It's definitely possible, but just seems unlikely to me to happen next season. The whole direction of the club has been going the opposite direction for three seasons now; it's going to take something big to turn it around.
