Well yes. I believe we were at our best while most of the opposing countries were

part of the British Empire and their indigenous citizens rather oppressed without much access to the sports facilities and training which were available to the English.

We've been getting our arse kicked at most sports since they've had the means to participate, learn and practice properly.

Britain (predominantly England) has long been extremely good at telling others what and how they should do things. Unfortunately not quite as good at executing it ourselves. America has learned that from us and turned it up several notches.
