'some reason' = the obscene amount of Russian money laundered through the City

This one is getting the attention due to PC Plod and a few others getting caught up in it.

Plus there's the wider message it is sending that the UK cant protect its informants, which makes recruiting new ones more difficult/expensive.

(Although with this guy i wonder if there is a criminal element to it - he seems to have lost a few family members in suspicious circumstances so may have been up to something and not taking the message.)
