I’ve sold a few cars in similar condition. Although writing “sold as seen” apparently

holds no legal strength I always write 2 receipts stating the condition. For instance state the known defects, that it is not safe to drive, that the purchaser is aware of the faults and has accepted the condition it is in. The Gumtree advert is also proof that you have made reasonable efforts to highlight any problems. 2 signatures and a proof of their address. Date and time the receipt. And state that it is not insured or taxed (the tax does not transfer from you anymore). Although I have no legal background on this I did this every time I sold a car.
