You're one of the big few with non-football income sources unavailable to everyone else. Or you circle the drain playing unattractive football to try to grind out results year after year until it's your turn to go down.

Not sure there is a Third Way.

I'm sure it used to be a bit like that back in the day but it never felt quite so acute somehow - the gap between the richest clubs and everyone else has become too huge.
