Did a similar thing years ago taking a slip catch.

Top joint of my right ring finger ended up bent back about 45 degrees. That made my eyes water! Luckily for me the nhs sorted me out (although it’s still a bit crooked today).

Still the best catch I ever took, so well worth it!
