If you read Dave Kitson/TSF on transfers you get an idea of some of what goes on

behind the scenes. It's not quite as simple as some would like to think.

Whether our new team as a whole is rather good at this or rather bad at this I have no clue as we've not seen enough to take a view, I don't think; but this individual piece of business strikes me as a good piece of business. In a context where we exit the window with no other new players, clearly Bad News; but in a context where we also get a striker (at least) in the next wee while, it's good they have also looked ahead and covered the near-inevitable departures a failure to go up will bring. And if we do go up he won't be on a lot and we can always loan him out - either we'll be straight back down again so we'll need him or we won't in which case sell him on or something.
