I agree to some extent based on my experience with adaptive cruise control

When using it eg on the M25 the car is effectively driving itself, controlling speed and lane discipline with me just holding the steering. It leaves a fixed space to the vehicle in front but people constantly cut into it causing my car to slow down, sometimes quite dramatically.

While some of us are driving more or less automated cars and others are making all their own decisions, it will be chaotic.
