The problem is that some clubs now are no longer 'national' clubs...
PSG are not a 'French' club, Bayern not a 'German' club, Real & Barcelona not 'Spanish' clubs, Man U, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal are not 'English' clubs.
These are now global megabrand clubs, and really belong in a separate league because clubs (i.e. the vast majority) that are still 'national' clubs simply cannot compete with them to any meaningful degree.
