that's spectacularly missing the point

it's not about whether or not the youngsters are better right now than the likes of Watkins or Stiepermann. Which is debatable, and Farke actually seems to be coming round to the view that the youth players (Lewis, Cantwell etc) may actually be better after all.

It's about whether or not the youngsters would be significantly worse to the extent of damaging our ambitions for the season. Considering the likes of Waktins, Stiepermann and Franke are backups who have contributed almost nothing, it's probable that the youngsters wouldn't have done much worse, if at all worse. In which case, the not inconsiderable sum of money we have spent on these misfits has been wasted.
