gamble either way I guess?

If we'd gone with the 'tried & trusted(?)' approach, it'd have probably meant the club spending more on fees & wages than it has under Farke, which (if we didn't go up) would have left us with an even bigger financial problem to sort out next season.

I suspect they've taken the on-pitch gamble over the financial gamble. Which, with them having seen how close we came to financial ruin and the L1 days, isn't an unreasonable decision for them to have made.
