Literally no-one will pay him £40k a week for 18 months

he'd have to be desperate to play to take a free transfer on maybe 25% of his current wages. And that's assuming he wouldn't insist on us paying him off.

We can't be seen to be trying to get rid, because then he'll want paying off. If he pushes to go, maybe a slightly different situation.
