look at the size of the transmission tunnel (oo err) in the middle, it's too big to fit a handbrake there so they bunged it on the side, like the ferrari 355 *clarkson face*. Normally a fly-off handbrake (drops away after engaging) is fitted to facilitate getting in/out but lotus look they couldn't be arsed.
