Attack the Barclay 2nd half

Does anyone know the reason why the norm is to shoot Barclay 1st half - Riverend 2nd half?

a) it gives the away team the chance to shoot towards their fans (in the corner granted - but you take my point) second half

b) the riverend is as inspiring as my right ball.

I remember week after week under Lambert us choosing to shoot to the Barclay second half and feeling the atmosphere that end was practically an assist for some of those late winners towards the end of the season (Milwall, Reading, Derby).
