why do you say sad but true regarding letting Wes go on a free

for someone who has been at a club for as long as Wes has ,its usually a sign of gratitude , that if the player can get another deal at another club , the current club wont stand in the way by asking for a fee , which may scupper the deal

If Wes went on free in the summer i would have no problem
