The majority are not always right. If the simple majority were allowed to run everything, then they would make laws which discriminated against the minorities at their own whim. In addition, this law unnecessarily removes freedom of choice - non-smokers should be able to walk into a smoky pub at their own (minuscule) risk. If they dont like it, go to a non-smoking pub, or a non-smoking area. The majority dont give a s**t about the environment either, doesn't mean we shouldn't have anti-pollution regulations does it?
